We decided to kick off our holiday in style with pre-Jet Airways flight breakfast time pampering in the Plaza Premium Lounge in London Heathrow’s Terminal 4. You have to reward yourself for having to wake up at 4am, I am sure you will agree!
A fantastic place we found for Malay and Singaporean dishes was Island Penang Cafe. Great meal deals can be had for $6-$7 for a main dish plus a cold drink. Loved the flavours of their signature Kway Teow with rice noodles and the Penang Assam Laksa dishes. Owner Vivien was friendly and attentive. We learnt from her that they are opening up a larger premises in a couple of months, so go check them out if you are near them!
We would recommend in the evening visiting Gardens by the Bay for its reknowned light extravaganza, then take a stroll through the elegant One Fullerton Place Hotel with its own canal with gondolas on route Merlion Park for the laser light show.
On our day off from exploring the delights of Singapore, we were invited to review Tippling Club. Please see our review on what an amazing place this is:
We were fortunate to be in Singapore for their 50th Anniversary celebrations in Admirality Park and were able to listen to the vocal delights of Anne Hussein and Elegant Swing, plus a theatrical explosion of dancing from Danz People including snippets of shows such as The Lion King and Phantom of the Opera.
For fantastic aerial views over the city, head up to ION Orchard Tower’s viewing gallery, with an essential stop in the ION Orchard’s art gallery to appreciate the wonderful collection of art and its different styles. They also have a food court in the basement.
