We went for lunch to Hutong at The Shard, as we had been keen to check it out for a little while. We walked into a beautiful, light and airy restaurant whose decorations reflected the diverse cuisines of Northern China that it served. Particularly adored the lanterns as they reminded us of our tour in China last year.
We sipped on cocktails (above) whilst we made our choices of our dim sum and took in the breathtaking skyline views over London. C got Beijing Fizz with vodka with its light and refreshing combination of lychee liqueur, lemon juice and plum bitters notes. I got the Shanghai Vines which had wonderful balanced flavours of kaffir lime infused tequila, lime juice and peach bitters.
We enjoyed watching the theatre of a crispy duck being carved at a neighbouring table, as well as the dim sum chefs at work.
We tucked into a selection of delightful meat and seafood dim sum that brought back happy memories of our group travels starting in Beijing and finishing in Shanghai last year, including the spicy minced pork dumplings, crystal crab meat dumplings, scallop and pumpkin dumplings, prawn & pork siu mai, crispy peking duck rolls, baked puff with pork in Chinkjang vinegar sauce, and baked Wagu beef puffs.
Shame I had to dash off to work straight after otherwise we would have settled down to enjoy some desserts whilst taking the fabulous view.
Recommend visiting as you can then combine the aerial view similar to The View from The Shard whilst enjoying a wonderful meal. We will be back again soon.
