We went to a Reiss Personal Tailoring event in One New Change last night, with the added bonus of beard trims and skincare products from Murdock’s as well as being able to sample Chivas Deluxe Blended Scotch Whisky range of different ages with Glen (a Drinkologist and Account Manager for Pernod Ricard UK).
It was interesting to learn from Glen about the flavour profiles of each of the blends, and his knowledge of food pairings:
Chivas 12 – Lighter, young vibrant flavours of Apples, Pears, Vanilla and Honey = complements stronger flavours with its sweet fruity notes, like smoked salmon, foie gras and chicken & duck liver pate.
Chivas 18 – Smooth with a drier after-effect on the palate, with flavours of Dried Fruits, Raisins, Dark Chocolate and Buttery Toffee = perfect with meats, especially game.
As it has smokier notes, it also goes well with dark chocolate dishes/ desserts or slighty salty cheeses like Parmigiano-Reggiano.
Chivas 25 – Indulgent, with flavours of Sweet Oranges, Peaches, Milk Chocolate and Marzipan = perfect on its own, or great with fish like cod or sea bream/bass.
Thanks for an interesting evening to Reiss and for a chance to win an Aston Martin experience, and enjoyed chatting to Glen about food pairings and Sarah (PR & Marketing Manager from Campbell Bell Communications) about their involvement with the brands.
