We went to Vingt-Quatre (VQ) Bloomsbury as we had heard great things about VQ – including an endorsement from Gordon Ramsay of their Chelsea branch (it is one of his favourite places to take his family). The concept is to serve quick, fresh, classic brasserie style dishes in a relaxed, light environment anytime – day or night!
We tucked into Minute Steak, French Fries & Béarnaise and Haddock Goujons, Mushy Peas, French Fries & Tartar Sauce. The minute steak was perfectly cooked to order and came with a good Béarnaise sauce. The goujons had a wonderful, crisp batter exterior with lovely chunks of flaky haddock pieces inside. Though the fries were a bit oversalted for our tastes they were still great.
For dessert, we enjoyed a warm chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce and a pretty caramel shard; and an apple crumble with custard. The brownie had lovely chunks of dark chocolate running through it. The apples had cinnamon notes and were topped with a fab oaty, flapjack type of crumble topping.
Thank you to Elise (General Manager) and her team for looking after us so well and for making it a lovely lunch to celebrate our parents wedding anniversary. Great, good quality and value dishes. Save room for desserts! We will be back again soon.
