We went to Beard to Tail as we had been wanting to check out their restaurant, being the sister establishment of Callooh Callay – one of our favourite bars; plus to sample Chiara’s competition winning pancakes.
We settled down to enjoy the design of the restaurant and check out the menu whilst sipping our Gentleman Jack & Apple Juice cocktails. A lovely mellow whisky complemented by the sweetness from the apple juice. Gentleman Jack is the only Tennessee Whisky that has been charcoal mellowed twiceto offer a full-bodied flavour with a smooth, silky finish. Particularly loved the Beard to Tail pig on the window of the kitchen!
As we love ribs, we decided to plump for the rack of bourbon ribs – accompanied by a side of fries in dripping!
The ribs were messy but gorgeous with the meat falling off the bones complemented by bourbon hit from the bbq sauce, plus the Asian style dressing on the houseslaw and the lovely pile of crispy onions. The only thing we would say is that they could have done with a bit less sauce so you could also enjoy the flavour of the meat. Sauce on the side next time Beard to Tail?
Dessert was Chiara’s winning pancake flavour: an American style pancake topped with dulce de leche, sliced banana and clotted cream icecream. Heaven on a plate, if we say so ourselves!
Thanks for an enjoyable evening, fab cocktail and pleasant, friendly service. We are already planning our next trip back to Beard to Tail to give their menu a proper workout.
