We went to The Factory House for a Cocktail Masterclass. During the evening we were looked after by manager Sarah Paterson and cocktail maestro Ilario Avantaggiati.
Ilario is originally from Puglia, and has seven years of experience creating cocktails in Rome.
Ilario taught us how to make Tiki “Mai Tai”, a German Old Fashioned, and a Factory House Fizz. Ilario provided us with a lot of interesting information on the background of each cocktail; including the Fizz being based on the Ramos Gin Fizz which was developed in the Imperial Bar. I particularly liked the floral notes of the Ardbeg whisky in the Old Fashioned (one of my favourite drinks).
Whilst we enjoyed our cocktails, Sarah served us platters of amazing cheeses including Stinking Bishop (which was an interesting flavour experience- smelly, but tasted great).
The Factory House is a really cool bar to relax in, very central, and has pleasant and attentive staff. I would highly recommend visiting for the fun and informative cocktail masterclasses, or just to relax, enjoy drinks and to sample items on their menu. Also, check out all the interesting brewery equipment around the venue.
